Cryptocurrency companies have started creating digital versions of carbon offsets and trading them online. The firms say they are using blockchain technology to make the controversial carbon credit market more accessible and transparent. But can volatile cryptocurrencies really help streamline conventional carbon trading?

Context reporters Avi Asher-Schapiro and Fabio Teixeira looked into the Brazilian 'climate tech' firm Moss, which says it’s "saving the planet” by converting carbon credits into tokens on the blockchain.

They uncovered problems with some of the forest conservation projects which they have been selling.
