Königs Wusterhausen is the largest town in the Dahme-Spreewald district. Municipal reforms in 2003 brought about seven mergers, and since then the communities of Zesen, Cablo, Dipenser, Niederlem, Senziger, Wernsdorf and Zernsdorf have all been incorporated. Belonging to Königs Wusterhausen, the town increased its land area sixfold and doubled its population.
