The abandoned Virginia Renaissance Faire in 2023 - 24 years after its closure

The Virginia Renaissance Faire opened its gates in 1996 and, thanks to the swampy surroundings and extremely humid climate, only lasted a few years and eventually closed down in 1999 after not raking in the expected profits.

Most of the decorations and props were moved to another faire in Wisconsin, but the structure was simply left in place to rot. While some of the buildings have collapsed entirely in the 24 years since its closure, some of them, including the boat, are reasonably well preserved.

This video was filmed in May 2023 - 24 years after its closure.
