The e-tron GT is Audi's first fully electric vehicle to be built in Germany. It rolls off the line at the Audi Böllinger Höfe on the Neckarsulm site. The small chain production facility has been expanded and transformed into its new role. The craftsmanship of the previous facility has been supplemented with digital operations and smart technologies. During expansion, production planners used new hypothetical methods. The production e-tron GT was designed without physical prototypes - a first for Audi.

The Body Shop combines the craftsmanship of its employees with the full potential of automated production technology. It consists of an innovative hull assembly line that each body passes twice. It is built around a so-called two-way tire tire, in which ten robots are used to connect the inside and the outside. It combines all the manufacturing steps to join the side panels in one system - which makes production of the Audi e-tron GT possible in the existing floor space. What is known as a correlation-free embedded measurement procedure of bodies is also novel. It guarantees greater accuracy and can respond very quickly to fine deviations. At the end of the structure assembly line, meticulous craftsmanship plays a role: experienced workers install the auxiliary parts and inspect the completed structure.

The e-tron GT shares the assembly line with the high-performance sporty Audi R8 - this integration of two completely different vehicles technically unique to the Volkswagen Group. The extended assembly line includes 36 cycles instead of the previous 16 cycles. Both models are transported using the same driverless transport vehicles and an electrically powered monorail system, with humans and robots working side by side at one stop of the line. Once completed, each vehicle is driven 40 kilometers (24.9 miles) on public roads, which also includes sections on the highway and in urban traffic.

Production of the Audi e-tron GT quattro and RS e-tron GT in Böllinger Höfe is carbon-neutral. Just like the entire Neckarsulm site, production uses 100 percent of environmental electricity, with a combined biogas heating and generation unit to provide the heat needed for Bollinger Hof. Hitherto unavoidable emissions are offset by carbon credits from approved
