Rumi’s Arabian Kitchen opened its doors in Jamia Nagar, New Delhi, in May 2024. Founded by a group of friends united by their love for Kerala and Middle Eastern cuisine, the eatery brings together authentic flavors in a casual, welcoming setting. Their new outlet in Shaheen Bagh features a compact dining area and a curated menu focused on select chicken and buff starters, along with their signature dish — Mandi.

This Yemeni classic is a fragrant, spiced rice preparation that can be paired with tender mutton, buff, or chicken, and is served with a side of fresh salad, daqoos (a spicy tomato sauce), and mayonnaise.

We sampled the Chicken Kondattam and Buff Roast, both served with flaky Malabar Porottas. The thick, flavorful gravies combined with the porotta instantly transported us to Kerala — a truly nostalgic experience.

The highlight of our visit was the Mutton Mandi. The meat was exceptionally tender and juicy, and the rice full of rich, aromatic flavors. You can also try it with Chicken Alfaham, Shawaya, or juicy buff pieces cooked in Kerala-style spices.

With a warm ambiance, attentive service, and affordable pricing, Rumi’s Arabian Kitchen is a delightful new addition to the neighborhood for anyone craving soulful, spice-laden dishes.
