Today’s video shows you how to release your back without a chiropractor or orthopedic physical therapist. This technique can help release tightness and pain in the low back and is similar to an adjustment or manipulation that a chiropractor or orthopedic physical therapist would perform in the clinic.

The set up in this video is very similar to how physical therapists and chiropractors position a patient’s body when performing a low back or lumbar manipulation/adjustment. This stretch involves pre-positioning the hip in flexion and rotating the spine by reaching with the arm. Then, pressure is applied to the hip to increase stretch in the low back region.

This video is not intended to teach you how to manipulate your partner’s spine. Spinal manipulations should only be performed by rehabilitation professionals who have been trained in these techniques. If you experience pain during this stretch, stop and choose a different exercise option or schedule an appointment with a rehab practitioner.
