Got this beautiful piece of Lightning Ridge Crystal Opal in Dallas, Texas in April 2008. It was like electric gummy candy and, to be honest, I was a bit intimidated by it, so it took me almost a decade to decide how to cut it...from the side to see the bands, from the top to see the fireworks pattern...finally the main cracks (from mining...not crazes) decided that for me...

You will hear me wax philosophical in it...some is my opinion, some is fact, take it or leave it...enjoy and hour of opal cutting...
