The long-awaited opening of the Malaysian-owned Grade II listed Power Station took place today in Malaysia Square accompanied by performances from the Battersea Power Station Community Choir and the Setia Drummers flown all the way from home.

The countdown had the public, mostly locals living in and around the area in south London, converging to the public square to the south of the iconic building.

They made a beeline to the entrance to discover for themselves the power station's Turbine Halls, which have been meticulously restored back to their former glory and transformed into one-of-a-kind retail and leisure destination.

On Oct 12, ahead of its public launch today, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah officiated the opening ceremony and symbolically "turned the power" back on the building nearly 40 years after the lights were switched off.
