Management at the University of Zambia UNZA says it will in the next 48 hours, take action against students that participated in a riot at the Lusaka main campus, on the night of 17th November, 2020.
Students lit a fire at the entrance of Vice Chancellor, Luke Mumba’s office, as a way of registering displeasure at management's decision to bar those who have not cleared tuition fee balances from writing examinations which commenced on 16th November 2020.
Professor Mumba, during an address to the media, Wednesday 18th November, 2020 says the decision to bar students from writing was not made out of malice but that the University is currently failing to run efficiently due to lack of funds.
He explains that some of the riotous students were captured by CCTV cameras at the institution.
