The Babusenan Brothers are award winning filmmakers who make serious art cinema in India. They explore the human mind and try to unravel the existential problems that nearly everyone encounters. constantly fighting the CBFC for their right to self expression they are used to taking that body to court. Their first feature film "The Painted House" was banned from exhibition and so they took the CBFC to court and got it cleared with absolutely no cuts. They fought again for their 5th film 'DARKNESS' which criticizes the rising intolerance of right-wing fundamentalism in India. Again they won with absolutely no cuts or changes. Each of their films is an experiment of sorts: use of metaphors, dissent, stringing up conversations about life and so on. Their films have been showcased at several international festivals and won many awards. They are in pre-production of their 7th feature now.
Before embarking on their filmmaking journey, the brothers led successful media careers in Mumbai.
Santosh has a PhD in the Narratology of Cinema and Satish has an MDes in Visual communication from IIT Bombay
