Описание к видео When KELLY SLaTER ruled the world - 2002 LOWER TRESTLES

The year is 2002, and it's summer in Southern California. The waves have been pumping for weeks, and it's time for the contest at Lower Trestles! A south swell hits California at the perfect time for the surf contest, sending massive amounts of swell to Lower Trestles. Kelly Slater is in peak form!

But he's not the only one who's ripping! Sunny Garcia is destroying the surf with his power moves! Danny Wills pulls off an impossible maneuver! Mick Fanning is earning his due as "White Lightning"! And Luke Egan is throwing massive backside turns that would eventually win him the contest!

But Slater is surfing next level compared to his fellow competitors. His surfing is futuristic and innovative! Two moves in particular are insane:

The first, a bottom turn to double grab air, so smooth and flawless it should have earned him a perfect 10! But in these days, the number of turns was more important than how radical the turns were. So he loses in the heat to a charging Luke Egan. After his loss, Kelly stares out to sea in disbelief.

The other amazing turn is a no-paddle 360 off the lip! He does no paddling, has no speed going into the wave, and somehow pulls off a carving 360. Simply amazing!
Here's more raw footage from this historic day of surfing at Lower Trestles in 2002!
