Sailing like a Viking, Denmark

The Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde, Denmark, offers the chance to crew a traditional sailboat on Roskilde Fjord. We leapt at the chance and really enjoyed the hands on experiences of rowing and hoisting the sail.

The museum itself is a must see for anyone who is even a little interested in boats, with displays and inclusive tours exploring how traditional and replica ships are made on site.
