KASP is a PCR-based genotyping chemistry suitable for genotyping SNPs and InDels. KASP has been used to genotype millions of samples worldwide. If you have you ever wondered “How does KASP work?”, this series of three videos explains the KASP reagents, the genotyping reaction and how the data is analysed. This is the final video in this series and shows how KASP genotyping data is analysed, and then describes some of the key benefits of the KASP chemistry.

Analysis of KASP - KASP genotyping reactions are analysed by viewing the fluorescence values as a cluster-plot (cartesian plot). Each DNA sample is represented as an individual data-point. Samples with the same genotype will have produced similar levels of fluorescence and so will cluster together when viewed on the plot. The positions of these clusters can be used to assign genotypes to the samples. The animation shows a typical KASP genotyping cluster-plot & how it would be analysed.

Benefits of KASP - This video describes four main advantages of KASP genotyping:
1. The high quality of the data produced.
2. The flexibility of KASP, such as the ability to design assays to genotype virtually any SNP or Indel. KASP is also compatible with wide range of qPCR instruments as well as PCR blocks & fluorescent plate readers.
3. The excellent cost-efficiency of KASP genotyping. This is due to the combination of unlabelled primers in the KASP assay mix, and the universal reporting system present in the KASP Master mix.
4. Support for KASP genotyping from the Scientific Support team.
