PRP is short form of Platelet rich plasma
it is of 4 types
P PRP : Pure PRP (Platelet Rich PRP)
L PRP : Leucocyte Rich PRP
P PRF : Pure Platelet Rich Fibrin
L PRF : Leucocyte platelet rich fibrin
It can be produced by 2 process .
open process : Blood is exposed to environment
Closed process : Blood is not exposed to environment : Safer

It has been used in a number of orthopedic indications which include Tennis Elbow, Achilles tendonitis etc. There is no indication of role of PRP in ACL Tears and full thickness Rotator cuff tears. In patients who have tendonitis it may have some role.
It has limited role in osteoarthritis where it has got some more role than hyaluronic acid.
