"Taz Taylor Band performed this classic MSG song every night on two International tours in 2007 and 2008 when Graham Bonnet was in the band. After those dates ended we dropped this song from our set. Jump forward to 2022 and a live recording of this song from somewhere in Germany 2008 has surfaced. That recording reminded me of how much fun this song (and this arrangement) was to play every night. It actually made me think of Bernie Torme! Bernie famously played a handful of shows with Ozzy following the tragic death of Randy Rhoads in 1982. Decades later Bernie started to include Crazy Train and Mr. Crowley in his own live set. I am assuming that Bernie realized that although he had nothing to do with the creation of those songs, they represented an important chapter in his career and performing them years later was a nod to that! This is how I feel about Desert Song. The video you see here is from July 15th 2022 at The Historic Ritz Theater in Escondido, CA. This was the first time TTB had performed this song since April 18th 2008 in Prague, CZ.
