This Fox News reporter’s tiny protective vest became a meme after he wore it during a live broadcast at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Fox News contributor Lawrence Jones tweeted a photo of himself wearing a protective vest before going live from Laredo, TX Jones was there to discuss what he called the ‘crisis at the border.’

The internet was quick to point out that the vest seemed dramatic. The Washington Post noted Webb County, where Jones was, is safer than 80% of similar counties nationwide. Many accused Jones and Fox News of fear-mongering.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez commented on the photo:

TWEET: Does “live from the border” mean Party City? Fox is really out here doing the most on a budget to make the border look more dangerous than it is 😂

Many Twitter users criticized or poked fun at Jones’ vest.

TWEET: OMG, stay safe!!! You might trip and hurt yourself or something.

TWEET: For those of you who haven't served, that's not a bulletproof vest he's wearing. It's a tactical, or "tac", vest. It's essentially a military man-purse.

TWEET: $5 says the cameraman isn't wearing a vest tho.

Other journalists who have reported from the border weighed in. Most said they’ve never had to wear protection.

Jones said on Twitter that border patrol had instructed him to wear the vest but in other shots from his report, he is not wearing protection.
