Natural Features
The terrain here ranges from sandstone bluffs to undulating hills that encircle the lake, where oak and hickory trees dominate the landscape. Vast stretches of level ground are adorned with prairie grasses, cool-season grasses, and designated areas for wildlife food plots.

Directions
Find Kinkaid Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area in Jackson County, situated on the northern side of Rt. 149, approximately 2 miles west of Murphysboro. If you're coming from the junction of Rt. 13, 127, and 149, head west on Rt. 149 for about 2 miles until you reach the entrance to Lake Murphysboro State Park/Kinkaid Lake. If you're on Rt. 3, travel east on 149 for roughly 5 miles to access the entrance of Lake Murphysboro State Park/Kinkaid Lake.

Groups of 25 or more are warmly welcomed and encouraged to utilize the park's amenities but are kindly asked to pre-register with the site office to prevent overcrowding or scheduling conflicts. Each group of 15 minors must be accompanied by at least one responsible adult. Pets are required to be on leashes at all times.

Please be aware that natural occurrences may lead to temporary closures of roads and other facilities. It's advisable to contact the park office before your visit. We sincerely hope you relish your time here. Remember, take away only memories and leave behind just footprints.
