I tried to level match all the samples as best I could watching the peaks and the RMS and just using my ears on different sources.

Though I have a few tape machines, I prefer recording and mixing in the box, it's simply easier and faster, and the sounds are getting better and better all the time. One thing that I think still needs to be worked on, and can still be purchased more affordably outside the box is overdrives/saturation sounds.
