ISVIS2023 KEYNOTE - Leticia Pozza: A framework to design data products

Representing data is much more than beautiful visuals. Sometimes we can focus so much on chart choices that we must remember that designing our data project starts before the data itself. It includes format, media, materials, where it is seen, and how people feel when interacting. We need to consider the experience of data for our users as a whole and find new ways for people to connect with our work.
I want to discuss how the objective of our work should be systemic, pushing the boundaries of the tools we have. In this talk, I will present a framework that anyone can use to rethink their projects from the get-go, considering data visualization as an entire experience for our user, not just beautifully designed viz. We need to start thinking about the next step in data representation, which could give people a hands-on tool and inspire them to aim for more.
