Upbeat, synth-heavy rock with a calmer middle section. I wrote Stardust in the last weeks of 2016, and as well as being one of the most "important" tracks I've written, it also sits among my personal favourites, so I really wanted to get this one right, but the task was daunting.

The original version of Stardust began life as a MIDI file in November 2016 - I was on a music technology course at the time (which has since led to me starting university last month) and for its composition module, I was working on a ridiculous dark prog metal piece called Náströnd, which was an absolute nightmare for various reasons, and eventually I just snapped and scrapped it, and wrote the first minute or so of Stardust at home one evening. I imported the MIDI into Logic at school and worked on it from there.

When it was released at the start of 2017, Stardust became one of my most popular works - Logic had enabled me to achieve a much higher production quality, and that production alongside the more electronic direction of the track made it completely unlike anything I'd done prior. Stardust and Tears of the Wanderer got me a distinction in composition, the highest grade.

Now here we are, almost two years later. I was worried because although I knew how I wanted to mix the new version, I didn't know how not having Logic's synths would impact the piece, but I managed ok. I even made one of the sounds from scratch (the most simple one, naturally :P) Honestly I'm so proud of this remake, it was one of the most daunting from the production side but I feel I fixed everything that was wrong with the original, and improved on the rest of it. I had so much fun working on this one, EVEN on the guitar parts! :) I hope you all enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed making it, thanks everyone and see you all next time for the last track of 2016, finally!
