This is the full video of a real and urgent snake rescue mission conducted at Shining Star Secondary School, Pokhara, where a Common Rat Snake (Ptyas mucosa) was spotted inside the school premises. The situation created fear among students and teachers, but quick and calm intervention by RJ Prabin, founder of the Nepal Snake Rescue Team, helped control the situation and safely remove the snake.

The Common Rat Snake is one of Nepal’s most commonly misunderstood snakes. Though non-venomous and completely harmless to humans, it is often feared due to its size, speed, and appearance. In reality, this species plays a vital role in our ecosystem by naturally controlling the rodent population, especially around human settlements, fields, and schools.

This video documents every moment—from the distress call, on-site inspection, handling, education of the school community, to the safe release of the snake back into a suitable wild habitat. It’s more than just a rescue; it’s a mission to spread awareness, promote harmony between humans and reptiles, and break myths and fears surrounding snakes.
