I've made a few batches of this oil over the years. It's extremely time consuming for how little it yields, but it's my favorite oil to make white paint with. I had a hand injury, and found myself out of work for a few days, so I thought I'd use that time to peel some walnuts.

Based on Leonardo's notes and others as referenced in Sir Charles Eastlake's wonderful 'Methods and Materials of Painting of the Great Schools and Masters' originally published 1847.
