Khaybar Fort is located near the city of Khaybar in Saudi Arabia and is just a two hours' drive away from Medina. The Fort is famous for the historical battle of Khaybar that took place here in 629 AD.
There were three main Jewish tribes in Medina before the rise of Islam in Arabia: the Banu Nadir, the Banu Qainuqa, and the Banu Qurayza. Banu Nadir was hostile to Muhammad's new religion. They joined the Mekkan army against the İslamic army and were defeated.

Ali first distinguished himself as a warrior in 624, at the Battle of Badr. He defeated the Umayyad champion Walid ibn Utba as well as many other Meccan soldiers. His art of battle was so brilliant that in the battle, there were 70 Polytheist (Mushrikeen), 35 of them (more than half of them) were killed by Ali.

The castles of Khaybar had tunnels and passages, which in wartime enabled the besieged to reach water sources outside the castles. Between 16 and 18 Muslims and 93 Jews were killed.
