The government is lying to us about the failure of Heartland Tri-State Bank in Elkhart, Kansas. Just yesterday the CEO, Shan Hanes, was sentenced to 24 years in prison for stealing tens of millions of dollars from the bank. But the big story here isn't the bank, the failure, or the CEO's pig-butchering scam. The real story here is the government's response to the failure of this tiny little bank and what it means for the rest of the US financial system.
