 Isaiah 9:6 begins with a prophetic announcement of the birth of the Messiah, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given,” then declares the authority of the coming Messiah, “and the government will be on his shoulders.” Isaiah 9:6 ends with four titles that characterize the rule of the coming Messiah – Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
