Описание к видео Protest, Counter-Protest & No Conversation | What’s Happening in Manchester?

On Saturday, I spent the afternoon in St. Peter’s Square, Manchester, which is fast becoming the city’s main stage for protest, debate, and confrontation.

The day started with Iranian protesters, chanting with real emotion and dignity, calling for freedom, peace, and justice. The atmosphere was welcoming, heartfelt, and rooted in shared pain and hope.

A short walk across the square led to a separate protest focused on NHS policies around medical interventions for children, particularly concerns over hormone-related treatments.

Many of the people there including older generations said they were worried about long-term impacts, the strength of the evidence base, and whether children are being given enough time to develop naturally before life-changing decisions are made.

Things escalated when a counter-protest group arrived, strongly opposing the NHS protest. What began as disagreement quickly turned into shouting, intimidation, and disruption. Police stepped in, restricted movement, and physically managed the situation after the counter-protest group ignored their designated area.

I spoke to people on all sides, asked honest questions, and tried to understand where everyone was coming from. Whether you agree or disagree with any of the viewpoints, one thing felt clear to me:
👉 Dialogue beats shouting. Every time.

You don’t have to agree to listen. You don’t have to shout to be heard. And if we can’t stand in a square together and talk, what does that say about where we’re heading?

This video shows what actually happened, without filters so you can make your own mind up.

📍 Manchester as it is.
🗣 Voices as they are.
👀 You see what I see.
