Glass fiber reinforced plastic is a wide variety of composite materials with different properties and wide applications. It is a new functional material made of synthetic resin and glass fiber through a composite process.

Advantages of glass fiber reinforced plastics:
1. The heat-resistant temperature of glass fiber reinforced plastic is much higher than that without glass fiber, especially nylon plastic
2. Glass fiber reinforced plastics have low shrinkage and high rigidity.
3. Glass fiber reinforced plastic will not stress crack, at the same time, the impact resistance of glass fiber reinforced plastic is greatly improved
4. The strength of glass fiber reinforced plastics is high, such as tensile strength, compressive strength, and bending strength, which all are very high.
5. Due to the addition of other additives, the combustion performance of glass fiber reinforced plastics is greatly reduced, and most of the materials cannot be ignited, so it is a flame retardant material.

Thermoplastic composite material (FRT) has outstanding characteristics such as low density, high strength, fast processing, and recyclability. It is a new type of composite material with high performance, low cost, and green environmental protection. ) has broad application prospects in aircraft, automobiles, trains, medical care, sports, etc. This paper summarizes the types, structures, and performance characteristics of thermoplastic composites (FRT), and introduces the latest processing technologies, applications, and development trends at home and abroad, as well as future obstacles and challenges.

Thermoplastic composite materials did not show a growth trend in 2019 due to the slow development of the automotive industry and the application market. The main products of thermoplastic composite materials are fiber-reinforced modified plastics, mainly fiber-reinforced plastic particles for injection molding. The chopped fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite material LFT-D has not formed a market increment due to the single product in the current market, and the product cost is higher than that of plastic and injection molding products. From 2017 to 2019, the application of continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic sheets and honeycomb sandwich panels has been greatly improved. With the continuous improvement of the strength and heat resistance of continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastic materials, the application field of thermoplastic composite materials is also expanding and has good development prospects. Figure 2 shows the development of thermoplastic composites over the years from 2001 to the present. From the annual output curve of thermoplastic composite materials, we can see that thermoplastic composite materials have been growing at a relatively rapid rate since 2001; in 2019, due to the impact of the downturn in the automotive industry, the growth rate has slowed down.
