Our Ultimate Afghan Restaurant in Canada quest led us to Samir Kabab House located in Burlington, Ontario which offers arguably the best Afghani food and flavors of Afghanistan cuisine right in the heart of Burlington, Canada.

Afghanistan's cuisine is influenced by a rich history of trade routes, including the Silk Road, contributing to a diverse array of flavors and ingredients. The cuisine also reflects the nomadic traditions and agricultural practices of the region. Afghan cuisine to an extent combines the flavors of Persian Cuisine, Turkish Cuisine and Indian Cuisines due to Afghanistan sharing close geographical proximity as well as having cultural ties dating back decades. Afghanistan Food is a fusion of flavors and has elements such as the garam masala from India, Mint from Iran, Kabab influences from Turkey, use of base spices such as Cumin and Cinnamon as used in preparation of Indian food etc. making it a foodies must try cuisine. Afghan food is one of the worlds most unknown cuisines, and for me, its in the worlds top 3 best tasting!

Without crossing borders, we were fortunate to take a trip to the heart of Kabul and experience some of the Afghan delicacies such as the Vaziri Breast Kabab (Waziri Kabab), the Beef Chali Kabab, fragrant and flavorful Qabili Palaw or Kabuli Pulao, the soft tender juicy Lamb Shank and the traditional Afghan dessert the Sheeryakh. Combined with attentive service, beautiful decor and ambience Samir Kabab House is a must visit for those craving for authentic Afghan flavors and I hope they open a branch at the ridgeway plaza in Mississauga because this restaurant would be a great addition to the biggest halal plaza in North America. Hospitality is the core of Afghan culture and we witnessed that firsthand that when you go to any Afghan home, the guest is the king

Baba Ganoush - A symphony of smoky grilled eggplant and aromatic Afghan spices

Vaziri Breast Kabab - Mix of chicken breast pieces and shami kabab served with brown or white rice

Beef Chapli Kabab - Fresh ground beef patties seasoned with house spices, served with rice

Qabili Palaw / Kabuli Pulao - Tender lamb pieces served with brown rice, topped with fried sweet carrot strips and raisins

Lamb Shank - Slowly cooked lamb legs served with rice

Sheeryakh (Bastani Afghani) - Traditional Afghan dessert.
