Canvey Island

In the early 20th century Canvey Island was developed as a seaside resort with limited success. One of the most notable reminders of this era is the 1930s Labworth Cafe. This architectural gem was renovated in the 1990s and is now a beachfront restaurant.
One of the best features of Convey Island beach is the children's tidal swimming pool and amusement parks.
There are a few small shops and cafes along the seafront along with a couple of pleasant parks.
In 1953 an unidentified sea creature was washed up on the shores of Canvey Island.
Canvey Island beach is just east of Thorney Bay Beach and is situated in the Thames Estuary, off the south east coast of Essex and separated from the mainland by a channel. The beach is made up of sand and mud and has a view of the Kent coastline.

Activities

Windsurfing is popular. There are amusement arcades
nearby and places to eat out. Kismet Park and garden is to the east of the beach.
