I chose the name Joe Normal, partly because my name is actually Joseph, and in 1982 when everybody was trying to come up with some wild, offensive punk rock stage name, the only thing I could think of was how I'm just so normal... and then it came to me, I'm Joe Normal. (John Doe would've been great too, but I'd soon learn it had already been taken.)

My name and persona has since evolved to represent the working class, everyday workers, and the every person. I am proud of my working class roots, and to be a voice for worker's rights, Blue-Collar families, and yer average citizen who likes rock n roll.
