The video describes a newly invented adjuster for flexible IPR (interproximal reduction) discs. It allows adjusting (or adapting) ultrathin diamond coated (single sided, fine grit) rotating discs to the interproximal surface (i.e. between teeth) to be ground and polished in order to achieve an anatomically correct and therapeutically favorable surface. IPR or “stripping” lately has gained importance in orthodontics. No method perfect in every respect being available as yet, the invention might contribute a considerable improvement to the art. Additionally, there is some potential in general dentistry as well when it comes to grinding teeth interproximally or removing irritating edges of insufficient fillings etc.

The new tool provides several advantages:
Anatomically correct and therapeutically favorable surfaces are reached very easily (no notches, no slice cut etc.).
Precise control where and how long the tooth structure is ground or polished, pressure is relieved immediately through spring-back mechanism.
Use of very thin (0.1 mm for example) grinding or polishing discs in the restricted area between teeth.
Disc guard is included, rendering the tool safe and convenient both for the patient and the operator.
Efficient grinding and polishing even at low speeds, because of the pressure exerted through the actuator.
Four functionalities united in a single part laser cut and formed from sheet metal (i.e. actuator, control point, spring-back mechanism and disc guard).
Sterilizable and durable because of robust and reliable design based on hardened stainless steel.
