How to Use Pattern Stamp Tool in Adobe Photoshop

The Pattern Stamp tool in Photoshop allows you to paint with a selected pattern or texture. Here's how you can use the Pattern Stamp tool:

Open Photoshop and open the image you want to work on.

Select the Pattern Stamp tool from the toolbar on the left side of the screen. It looks like a paintbrush with a dotted pattern.

In the options bar at the top of the screen, click on the pattern thumbnail to open the Pattern Picker. Choose a pattern from the available options or click the small arrow icon to load additional patterns.

Adjust the brush size and hardness by clicking on the brush size dropdown in the options bar. You can also use the left and right bracket keys ([ and ]) on your keyboard to decrease or increase the brush size.

Choose a blending mode and opacity in the options bar. The blending mode determines how the pattern interacts with the underlying image. Opacity controls the transparency of the pattern.

Position the brush cursor on the image where you want to apply the pattern.

Click and drag the cursor to start painting with the selected pattern. You'll see the pattern being applied as you drag.

Release the mouse button to stop painting. If you need to paint more, you can repeat the process by clicking and dragging again.

To select a different pattern, click on the pattern thumbnail in the options bar and choose a new pattern from the Pattern Picker.

If you make a mistake, you can use the History panel (Window then History) or the Undo command (Ctrl+Z/Command+Z) to revert to a previous state.

Once you're satisfied with the pattern application, save your image.

Experiment with different patterns, blending modes, and opacity settings to achieve the desired effect. You can also create and load custom patterns in Photoshop to further expand your options.
