This year at E3 Microsoft revealed they are working on the next generation of consoles. Currently codenamed Project Scarlet this will certainly be the Xbox One, but does that mean this is the doom of the Xbox One? Let's rant about it!

We all know Microsoft is deep into development of its successor to the Xbox One, and Phil Spencer confirmed as much at this year's E3. However, Xbox boss Phil Spencer stopped by Giant Bomb's E3 livestream to trickle out a few more important details that shed light on where Microsoft's priorities lie for its next console.

First, Spencer addressed the burning question of why Microsoft announced it in the first place, especially with Sony still tight-lipped on its PlayStation 4 successor. "Anybody who might worry about our console future, I just wanted to put that at ease," Spencer said. Well, odd play after announcing that you've snatched up a whopping five independent studios including Ninja Theory. That's a clear indication of a forward-looking strategy to set up Microsoft for a wealth of exclusives out of the gate next time around.
