Описание к видео KINGSAND & CAWSAND Cornwall UK - 4K Walking Tour - January 2022

Join us for a walk in Kingsand and Cawsand, Cornwall, UK. Our walk starts at Cawsand Beach by the Cawsand Ferry terminal and The Bay Bar & Restaurant. We walk past The Cross Keys Inn and up through the village of Cawsand. Once we reach Kingsand and the Half Way House Inn we take a look at the old boundary marker between Devon and Cornwall. We explore the quaint, narrow, cottage-lined streets of Kingsand and take a look at Girt beach, a small shingle beach backed by the village's iconic Clocktower. Finally, we check out Kingsand beach where we finish our walk.

Kingsand and Cawsand are twin villages in southeast Cornwall, United Kingdom. The villages are situated on the Rame Peninsula and are in the parish of Maker-with-Rame. Until boundary changes in 1844, Kingsand was in Devon, however, Cawsand has always been in Cornwall. On the old county boundary between the two villages, there is a house called Devon Corn which still displays the boundary marker, we take a look at this on our walk. The Rame Peninsula is considered part of the Forgotten Corner of Cornwall.

The villages are known for their smuggling and fishing past. Although the known smuggling tunnels have been sealed up, there are still old fish cellars and boat stores along the coast.

Kingsand lies on the shores of Cawsand Bay, with the South West Coast Path running through the village.

Cawsand overlooks Plymouth Sound and adjoins Kingsand, formerly on the border of Devon and Cornwall (the border has since been moved and now is situated on the River Tamar). Cawsand has one public house: the Cross Keys Inn. Kingsand has three pubs; The Halfway House Inn, The Rising Sun and The Devonport Inn. All of which we see on this walk.

During the summer, the Cawsand Ferry runs a passenger service between Cawsand Beach and the Mayflower Steps in Plymouth for visitors to the Barbican. Walkers can reach the village through Mount Edgcumbe Country Park.

A key feature of Kingsand village is the clock tower and Institute along the seafront of Kingsand. It was erected to commemorate the coronation of King George V.

There are three main beaches in Kingsand and Cawsand villages, which are separated by patches of rocks which have rock pools. Kingsand Beach is a mixture of sand and shingle, which is located along The Cleave. Girt Beach is mainly shingle, but with some sand and can be found along Market Street. Cawsand Beach is mainly sand and is found along The Bound. A swimming beach known as Sandways lies a short walk out of the village, across the rocks towards Fort Picklecombe.
