A short video showing a sign of broken gears - the feed dogs aren't moving when the machine is in operation. If the gears are intact and working, you'll still see the slight movement of the feed dogs, but they will not rise above the needle plate. I use this video to send to my customers so they can check the gears themselves.

At this time, we do not have a workshop to teach you how to replace gears - the bigger issue is knowing all of the micro timing adjustments once the gears are replaced, which is why most shops won't replace gears. The Sewing Doc Academy hopes to add a comprehensive gear replacement workshop in 2024.
