Commentary:

Hi! My name is Agnes. I'm the piermaster here at Blairmore Pier and I'm asking you to help me raise twenty thousand pounds that I need to repair the pier and keep it operational for the future.

The pier is really important to this local community. It needs quite a number of repairs, mainly all timber related. It needs some new decking on the floor to help people walk on safely. And handrails. Most of them have been beaten around a lot by the weather that they're exposed to.

The background noise that you can now hear is a combination of the wind and the incoming tide and the weather as it currently is today. You can see behind me the beautiful Arrochar Alps at the top of Loch Long. Loch Long is the Loch - it's a sea loch - that Blairmore Pier sits on.

Thankfully, we've come back in here to the warm and the shelter of the little heritage bothy. This was designed and established when the pier re-opened in 2005 and, as you can see, it depicts the history of the pier and other interesting facts and information about it. The wildlife that we have; the porpoises; the seals - etcetra; and various interesting bits of history. The bravery medal that was given for rescuing someone off of this pier.

Herring fishing was a major part of the local economy historically. That's long gone but the information boards tell the story which is a really interesting, historic story.

Alongside me here, we have these beautiful display boards where people have collected things off of the shore. For instance, this lovely little bottle rescued - just sitting in the sand of the shore. And people have collected them and brought them to the pier to help display.
