I Shared My Home With A Stranger For 1.5 Years | Housing the Homeless

At 17, Devaraj Seval Kumar became homeless after his stepfather kicked him out in early 2021. After a failed stay with his biological father in a one-room flat, the ITE student turned to his social worker for help.

This was how Devaraj met Clifford Lam, a recent divorcee who lived alone. Having once tutored an at-risk youth who faced housing insecurity issues, Clifford was keen to volunteer to host others going through a similar crisis.

As of end-2022, Devaraj was receiving financial assistance from the Ministry of Social and Family Development and the Institute of Technical Education.
