Yaesu FT-710 AESS: TX Audio Settings (video #13 in this series)

I’ve had a number of requests to shoot a video series about the Yaesu FT-710 AESS (Acoustic Enhanced Speaker System), similar to my FTdx10 series. Ham Radio Outlet loaned me a Yaesu FT-710 AESS for just that purpose.

In this video I show how I enter the TX audio parameters for operation with, and without, the Speech Processor, while using the stock SSM-75E microphone. I cover the thought process involved and how to interpret the controls available to achieve TX audio that compliments your voice.

Note that the parameters for the SSM-75E usually work well for the Yaesu M-70 desk mic. I’ve worked with some VIP Patreon team members to set up their M-70. I recommended that they enable the low-cut switch on the bottom of the M-70 when they are working DX, but disable the low-cut while rag chewing. They reported great success with that approach. I listened to their audio and it is some of the best I’ve ever heard.
