Psyche, guided by lost love, sought forgiveness from Aphrodite and was subjected to nearly impossible trials: separating grains, gathering golden wool, fetching water from the Styx, and finally descending into Hades to bring back Persephone’s beauty. With the help of gods and mysterious voices, she overcame each challenge, but moved by vanity, opened the forbidden box and fell into a deathlike sleep. Rescued by Eros, she was taken to Olympus, where she received ambrosia from Zeus and became immortal. Thus, united with the god of love, Psyche reached her apotheosis, and from their union was born Hedone, the goddess of pleasure.
