PULAKI TEMPLE

Pulaki Temple is located on the coast of Banyupoh Village, Gerokgrak District, on the edge of the Singaraja-Gilimanuk road about 53.5 km from Singaraja city. The road conditions are quite good. The famous supporting fauna that is very interesting is the group of monkeys and white starlings. Pulaki Temple is located on the slopes of rocky and bushy mountains.

The story of the establishment of Pulaki Temple cannot be separated from the history of Dang Hyang Nirartha's journey from Blambangan (East Java) to Dalem Gelgel (Bali), during the reign of Dalem Cri Waturenggong (1460-1550 AD). Pulaki Temple is a Kahyangan Jagat Temple that is worshiped (sungsung) by all Hindus in Bali. Since the major restoration that began in 1984, Pulaki Temple now looks magnificent and spacious and allows Hindus to freely perform prayers together. Pulaki Temple is actually the center of a series of surrounding temples, namely Kerta Kawat Temple at Km 51 from Singaraja (about 750 M south of the highway), Melanting Temple, Pabean Temple, and Pemuteran Temple. The sequence of ceremonies held on the piodalan that falls on Purnamaning Kapat starts from Pulaki Temple, then Melanting and Kerta Kawat Temples, then at Putaran Temple and finally at Pabean Temple. Its strategic location on the edge of the highway makes it not surprising that it receives many visits from foreign and domestic tourists.
