Описание к видео I’ll Knit If I Want To: Episode 182

Welcome to I’ll Knit (& Spin!) If I want To! I asked y’all to send in some of your questions (from everything from fiber arts, to designing and on!) so I could put together a little video for y’all every Friday doing my best to answer your questions!

In this week’s episode we cover:

1. I love your patterns and I love how you highlight the color changing properties of Spin Cycle Dyed in the Wool yarn. I want to knit the shift cowl, but I’m having a difficult time choosing a color combination with the Dyed in the Wool colorways. They are all stunning, but the color variation within each skein is making me nervous. I want to make sure that I have enough contrast to make the pattern pop, but I want it to be cohesive. Do you have any advice on choosing colorS

2. Hi Andrea, I made the Stria cardigan for the DRK March to May KAL this year and I love it! Except for one thing - there is a definite line in the pattern where I started the sleeves. The stitches look in pattern, but tighter. I was hoping the issue would block out, or ease up with wear, but it hasn't. I think I followed the instructions, but maybe I missed a step or should have ended on a purl row or something?? I have no intention of redoing the sleeves, but I love half-fishermans rib cardis! Do you have any advice to prevent this from happening next time? Thanks a million, love your videos and all you do.

3. hi Andrea! I have been working through your pattern library and loving your style. I would never have guessed that my style would be what it was until I started knitting your patterns and exploring this new look. I had a questions about color. You released your Frame Your Face cowl today! I LOVE it. I noticed your two versions seemed very different. The black and white was more unique of a coloring and it looks so good on you, and your other version was more of your normal color scheme IN MY OPINION. I love how you bring a lot a lot of different colors into all of your knitting project and I wondered this: Do you knit with color you LIKE or colors you think you look good in. I love some of the colors you and others use and often think I won't look good in them but I love them and almost don't care if they are "right" for me. Curious about your thoughts.

4. Hi Andrea. I am ready to cast on my Traveler Shell. My bust is about 15cm/6inch smaller than my waist. I always choose sizes to knit based on my waist size for bottom up garments. When I knit top down I always make increases on the side to make the body wider. Do you have any suggestions on decreases/ shaping when working bottom up? Thank you

5 .Hi Andrea! I started (and I thought finished) my spin for the Traveler Shawl size A. I spun two 4 oz braids and 1 4 oz batt as worsted spun singles using short forward draw and plied in a 3 ply combo spin. According to my little katrinkles tool I spun a sport weight. The yarn fits that groove and I get 12 wpi. But I only got 316 yards out of my spin! Not the 850 yds required for the pattern. I'm so confused. How could I have spun less than half of what you spun? What am I missing? Were the braids you used from the fiber club larger than 4oz each? Please help. I'm in love with the yarn I made and really want to knit it into the Traveler shawl.
HOW I COUNT YARDAGE- After soaking and drying yarn completely, lay skein on floor and use a measuring tape to get the approximate circumference of the skein. Then count how many strands/loops are in your skin. Multiply that number by the circumference, which will give you the total inches of your skein. Divide that large number by 36, which will give you the total approximate yards!

Today I am wearing the soon to be released Frame Your Face Cowl!
