In which I take you through a track I wrote in a studio, circa 1992/3.
I confess, my title is bad, but then so was my vocal. My 10/11-year-old self had no idea what to say into a sampler, so simply saying 'You know how nice this song is?' Was the entirety of my thought-process.

Having found this track on a tape (with a few others recently) I thought it might be an interesting thing to show how, using the power of AI, I could effectively get a handful of stems from a track that previously was purely a two-track affair.

Demucs is a very clever tool for almost pealing back the layers of a standard mono or stereo file containing lots of instruments and vocals, and separating them into four distinct layers.
Vocals, Bass, Drums and Other.
'Vocals' would be all the vocals (if any) in the piece.
'Bass' should be acoustic, electric or synth-bass the piece might contain.
'Drums' should be acoustic, electric, hand-drums, whatever it considers as being rhythmic content.
'Other' would be anything else that does not fit into the aforementioned categories. These might include piano/keys, guitars, other synth-lines etc, and in the case of this particular track, the 808 cowbell which demucs apparently does not consider part of the drum-track.

I used only stock Logic Pro plugins for this piece, so anyone who has Logic will be able to open and mess with this track.

Even if you're not a Logic user and want to try messing with the project, download it and then navigate to the Media folder, then Audio, and you can simply copy out the wave files and import them into your DAW of choice.
