News has the power to make and break elections. We base our opinions, decisions and arguments on it. It shapes the world around us – and the way we make sense of it. But what makes the news where you live? And how does a local story become a headline grabber?

The displays in libraries across the UK ran alongside Breaking the News, a major exhibition at the British Library from 22 April to 21 August 2022. We invited people in #Kent to join the debate with the exhibition touring around Kent Libraries, having started its journey at the Kent History and Library Centre, #Maidstone in February 2022, then visiting #Canterbury, #Whitstable and #Folkestone Library.
