What makes a guitar solo great? Is it one which is played a breakneck speed? Or is it one played with delicate articulation? Maybe somewhere in between?

We all have our favourites, however, there are a select number which are undeniable. We put it to you that the solos in this list are undeniably the greatest rock guitar solos of all time. We have everything from Steely Dan to (surprise surprise) The Darkness, we've left no stone unturned... or have we? DISCLAIMER We only have one Jack so this list will only include guitar solos with one lead guitar part, so there will be a distinct lack of Eagles or Thin Lizzy, we're sorry. (It's probably for the better, a world with two Jacks doesn't bear thinking about).
