Who would go to great lengths to speedrun saving the world in under 30 minutes? PaRappa, that's who! Stick around for a bizarre adventure, filled with gameplay quirks and craziness, all thanks to a tool-assisted speedrun! Or, should I say... tool-assisted rapping? 😏
Thanks @Hemlol for helping with the description!
As a side note, the legendary meme "Chinese" is turning 10 years old on October 29th. Enjoy the references throughout the video!

Time can be saved by time warping by entering and leaving COOL mode under some circumstances. Entering and leaving COOL mode during the middle of each lesson in stages 2, 3, and 7 (only on lessons 1 and 3) can skip significant portions of the songs, specifically the intermissions. While it seems viable to enter COOL mode in stage 6 as it removes the pauses after each line, it is actually counterintuitive because of the aforementioned time warping, which will waste time. Additionally, ending stage 6 on COOL will waste more time than ending on GOOD.
"Stage 3 is rather peculiar when it comes to time warps, since the length of the COOL and GOOD tracks are different. The time warps act pretty normal until Lesson 3/4. After Lesson 2, leaving COOL mode does not warp you into the future as much, and going into COOL on Lesson 4 does not warp backwards. Thanks to this mechanic on Lesson 4, ending in COOL mode is actually faster than ending in GOOD mode by two seconds."
Using shuriken mode or easy mode will skip the bonus stages, which will happen after Stages 2, 4, and 6, saving 7 seconds each time. However, points earned will be halved. Stage 2 is played without shuriken mode since the time save from time warping is more significant, about 24 seconds.
Loading times are also a factor to speedrunning PaRappa 2, and it depends on the condition of your PlayStation 2 console (or the version of the emulator you're using, e.g. PCSX2). For PCSX2, enabling fast CDVD will lessen loading times. As for the PS2, it all comes down to the hardware.
29:47 if timed from boot-up, 29:33 if timed from pressing start on the title screen. Timer stops after the last line in stage 8.
Due to the nature of PS2 emulation as of now (desyncing, loading times, etc.), I will not provide the moviefile of this TAS, and this will not be submitted to TASVideos.
