The "flatpicker's favorite", Dana Bourgeois' dreadnoughts have ended up in the hands of countless top players, and for good reason. Taking note of a common "unbalancing" issue many dreads had where their high frequency response died off over time, he altered the bracing on his to counteract this effect. On this D, we have an Adirondack spruce top treated with the proprietary Bourgeois Aged Tone process, which preserves the strong articulation the wood is known for, while adding some balance and warmth. The back and sides are likely what caught your eye with this one, though, which earned it the nickname "Panama Red". This exotic rosewood has an incredible tone and look all its own, while capturing some of the best qualities of Brazilian rosewood.
