The Truth About How Landlords Can Negotiate for Higher Rent with Section 8

There are different times when we can "negotiate" the rental amount. We can do it when we turn in our paperwork and when it's time for a rental increase. The way in Detroit for a real estate investor or housing provider to do it is NOT what it seems. No happy handshakes involved.

Correction: On the MSHDA comparative dispute, I compared a 4-bedroom house of mine to the 4-bedroom house on Packard. The rent I already agreed to was closer to $1,600, not $1,500. I chose the house for rent on Packard for much higher than my own property. I doubt the person asking for $1,750 ever got that in Detroit from a cash-paying tenant. That's pretty high right now.
