How many years do you think Johnny can live on his net worth? You will have the answer by the end of this video

We all love Johnny – extremely talented, charismatic, humble, he has a huge heart.

So while it seems all well and good with his latest court victory, it’s really not rainbows and lambos for him either – he’s lost $500 million, and this is how.

Once estimated to have a net worth of $650 million, Johnny was one of the highest-paid actors in the world.
As of today, Johnny’s net worth is estimated at approximately $150 million, which is no small amount. In that case, why is this question even worth looking into? Well, perhaps to give some frame of reference – Johnny reportedly made $300 million from his Pirates movies, and $68 million just for playing the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland. Why was he at risk of bankruptcy just a couple years back - Where did this money go?

1. First, out-of-hand spending.

A couple things reportedly under Johnny’s monthly bills:

· $100,000 to a doctor to help with addiction

· $30,000 on wine

· $300,000 on staff, including 40 full-time employees

· $150,000 on security

· $200,000 for his private jet

Johnny was spending as much as $2 million a month. By that measure, Johnny outspends the annual income of the average American household in one day.

And then, there were the splurges: over 14 homes around the world including a chateau in France, a horse farm in Kentucky, and several islands in the Bahamas. He owns several yachts, more than 45 cars, 12 storage facilities worth of memorable pieces, and an expensive art collection.

Not have a spending plan is actually a common problem. Do enjoy your hard earned money, do indulge in your little luxuries, but also plan how you intend to spend, give, and invest the money you have. Rather than focusing on your financial constraints, a spending plan focuses on your financial goals.


2. Not communicating with your partner about financial expectations (or, if you are still a free bird, not talking about finances with your potential partner)

According to Johnny’s former financial manager, the spending got really out of hand when Johnny and Amber got together back in 2010. When Amber filed for divorce from Johnny back in 2016, she requested he pay her support of US$50,000 a month. At the time, she was estimated to be earning around US$10,000 per month but her “basic” expenses were around US$44,000 per month.

Getting your family to follow a budget is a marathon, not a race. Working with your spouse instead of against them will make your life easier in a lot of ways, including when it comes to solving financial problems. Couples argue about money for a lot of reasons and this can put a big strain on marriages.
Sit down with your partner and figure this all out. Agree to be honest without getting confrontational. Above all, avoid the blame game – it doesn’t solve anything and will just hurt your relationship. Here are some questions to get you started:

What does money mean to each of you?
What are your financial goals (short, medium and long term)?
How does each of you see managing your money going forward?

Figuring out a budget together probably means you’ll both have to make compromises somewhere, and that’s okay.

3. Have an emergency fund/ be realistic

For Johnny, it’s lawsuits. A lot of them.

But we have emergencies too – sickness of a loved one, home repairs, unemployment. Emergency funds create a financial buffer that can keep you afloat in a time of need without having to rely on credit cards or high-interest loans. How much should I have, you say? The right amount for you depends on your financial circumstances, but a good rule of thumb is to have enough to cover three to six months’ worth of living expenses.

A high-yield savings account is a good place to store your emergency fund. The money earns interest, and you can access your cash quickly when needed.

So, back to the big question, how long can Johnny live on his current net worth? 150 million, divided by 2 million a month, excluding the occasional splurge (that perhaps occurs quite often), comes to less than seven years.

Thankfully for Johnny, he has been able to charge $20 million per film, so he would probably work out alright, even if this means he may have to keep grinding. Unfortunately, if he could have managed his finances better, he could have life-changing wealth much earlier on. As for whether Amber actually has to pay Johnny for the defamation case?
