I was DISGUSTED with myself...⁣⁣⁣⁣ 😩 ⁣⁣⁣⁣

Back in 2014, while I had been preparing for physique shows, I thought it would be fun to try and remake this iconic Marky Mark Calvin Klein ad. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ 📸 ⁣⁣⁣⁣

I was lean and since we had similar builds, I thought I could pull it off. 💪⁣⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣⁣⁣After practicing his pose, I packed up tighty whities and went to my friend Jeremy's studio to get the shot.⁣⁣⁣⁣ 📦📷

⁣⁣⁣We worked at it for awhile and ended up with the picture you see above. ⁣⁣⁣⁣

Pretty cool, right? 😎

That's what I think now... ⁣⁣⁣⁣

But in the moment, I remember being so disappointed. 😔

I thought looked nothing like him. I thought I was a FAILURE.

So silly. 🤦‍♂️ ⁣⁣⁣⁣

Here I was, in literally the best shape of my entire life, trying to replicate the poster boy of perfect proportions and boyish charm and all I could think of wasn't the progress I had made.

Or how unbelievable it was that it looked similar.

No, it was the opposite. 💭

All I could think about was how far I still had to go. 💪⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣

Fast forward nearly 10 years and I can’t believe myself I'm still disappointed - but not for the same reasons. ⁣⁣⁣⁣

For so many years, I had measured myself against where I thought I should be, instead of comparing myself with how far I've come. 📈⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣

Comparison is the thief of joy and it doesn't matter if you're comparing grades, jobs, or even bodies. ⁣⁣⁣ 🤼‍♂️

We’re all battling something and although I truly believe improvement is one of the most amazing things about life, you can only use it to compare how far you've come. 💯
