Kandi is a town and a municipality in Murshidabad district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is the headquarters of the Kandi subdivision and is located on the east bank of Kana Mayurakshi River.
Kandi Raj Bari was made by Ganga Govinda Singha of the 'Lala Babu's Family' of 9th Century Bengal when the Kingdom of Gaur was flourishing.This family were ardent followers of Ballal Sen & the also the Pathan Kings of Delhi.
The palace like large two- storied temple of Radhaballavjiu is situated in the Kandi Rajbari. Founder: Gouranga Sinha Majumdar or his nephew Radhakanto founded the image of Radhaballavjiu and erected the temple. The images of Radhaballavjiu and Radhika are made of basalt and brass respectively. Along with other images (Jagannath, Radhakanto, Gopal, Gopinath, Madanmohan etc.) are still worshipped.
